The Logitech Performance Mouse MX is an ergonomic mouse that consists of 8 buttons, all of which are fully customizable. One of the buttons is not visible, which is right underneath where your thumb will be, this one is already preset to the “change window screen”- the version that Apple puts on their Macintosh computers, but I think if you use this mouse with Windows software you should set the button to Flip 3D, which to me seems much, much, cooler than what Apple puts on theirs, but that’s just me.
The mouse consists of Logitech’s DarkField technology, which means the mouse will work on any surface, even your hand! But you won’t have much room to use it if you use your hand. The laser on the bottom of the mouse is completely invisible, which to me seems safer that the red ones they put on the mice. The mouse is designed to completely fit your hand comfortably and completely. There is the left-click button, the scroll wheel, the right-click button, the Flip 3D button, the zoom button, and the back and forward buttons, and the super-scroll button. The eighth button is pressing down on the scroll wheel. DarkField technology is made so you can use the mouse without a mouse pad on a glass desk, great for many photo editors, computer artists, and graphic designers that need a lot of room to move the mouse around.
The super-scroll button switches between normal scrolling and scrolling to the bottom of a very long webpage, document, spreadsheet, presentation, etc., etc., it also helps if you were recently reading an article, and for some reason you couldn’t finish reading it, you can go back and you were halfway down a, 24 page article, and you were on page 16, you could just flick your scroll finger and it will keep scrolling until it stops by itself. You can just put your finger on the scroll when you get to where you were. It can be very helpful. The scroll wheel can also scroll from left to right, but compared to the Microsoft mouse 4000, I’m not sure whether or not I’m scrolling left or right because there’s no click on the Logitech scroll wheel, unlike the Microsoft ergonomic wireless mouse 4000.
The mouse also features an on and off button on the bottom of the mouse, close to the DarkField laser, allowing you to leave the micro RF receiver in your computer, trust me, it’s so small, you CAN leave it in one of the USB ports. I actually thought that it would be hard to pull out of the USB port, but there’s a small groove where the tips of your finger and thumb can get a grip and EASILY pull out the RF receiver. However, I find there may be a cause for concern due to having to turn over the mouse to turn it on, making a chance where the laser may shine in your eye(s), causing you to have bad eyesight.
The zoom button allows you to zoom in and out, whether it is on an internet webpage, a document, spreadsheets, whatever allows you to zoom in and out. The back and forward button does what it says. The only thing I can think of to go back and forward, would be Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, or Adobe Internet, basically any type of program that will take you on the internet. What you do is, you press the zoom button and then you zoom in and out using the scroll wheel. You just press the zoom button again when you’re done zooming.
There is also a meter that will show you how much battery life you have left that will light up when you plug it in via USB or when you first turn on the mouse. I find this to be very handy, too, notifying me when I should charge or plug in my mouse into my computer or wall charger.
I find this mouse to be very helpful, handy, and productive, I give this mouse a 10 out of 10 (10/10).
