Paper has begun to decrease this year, some of you may ask, “Why?” This is because of the recent releases (and soon to come) tablets, such as the iPad, BlackBerry Playbook, Samsung Galaxy Tab, the soon to come PalmPad, and also soon to come HP Slate 500.
Paper is becoming “out of style”, as some of you may say, or decreasing. Already the famous retail book store chain Barnes & Noble is up for sale, with sales drastically decreasing. So far there has been no word if someone has actually bought the company yet, but so far no one has. You know what happens if no one buys the company. Bankruptcy. First bankruptcy, then closing large portions of their stores, then having a close-out sale, and then if none of that works, then an era to book reading closes, and a new world opens [of ebook reading].
Already the world is switching to ebook readers and tablets with ebook apps, with the all-around popular Amazon Kindle, to well- known tablets such as the Apple iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab. Statistics show that for every 100 traditional paper books that are sold from Barnes & Noble, 180 eBooks are sold from the online Amazon Kindle store. Barnes & Noble tried to save themselves by releasing ebook reading apps in the iOS App store, and Android Market, and even releasing their own ebook reader, the Nook, they just entered the ebook world to late, and the retail chain you’ve all known and loved is coming to a close. But, Barnes & Noble is making their final stand by releasing another eBook reader, the Nook Touch with a color touch-screen instead of an e-ink display, but unfortunately, the tides show that it’s too late for them.
As more and more paper and paper books disappear, eBook readers and tablets such as the Apple iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab are moving in, and drastically changing the world as we know it today. With the world achieving video calling capabilities on cell phones such as the iPhone 4 and HTC Evo, from Chevy building the first 200 mile-per-gallon car (not, that’s not a type-o), to the soon to come Humvee-copter, a military Hummer that can fold out rotors of a helicopter and take off on flight, permitting for the future to come in at a blink of an eye.
No matter how much you want to deny it, paper & paper books are declining, and the ebook is increasing.
Already places such as your doctor’s office is switching to tablets (I’ve seen it in real person, I’m not lying) from traditional files, eliminating fire hazards, wastes of space, and eliminating the possibility of your file getting mixed up with someone else’s.
As the world emerges into a new era of reading, keeping track file, and keeping track of their lives, the future is yet to come.
